Leaving
a Lasting Legacy
Since
its inception in 1995, God gave a two-fold vision to the
CEF
Specialized Book Ministry:
1.
To provide this present generation of children’s workers
with good training and teaching tools to effectively reach
today’s child for Christ
2. To leave a lasting legacy that would help and encourage
future generations of children’s workers to effectively
reach the children of their day for Christ.
God has blessed the work and all around the world many thousands
of national workers have benefited from the books written
by Sam Doherty. It has been our prayerful concern now for
some time to make arrangements that would ensure the long
term future of the books.
After
many months of prayer and discussion with the CEF international
leadership we are now able to announce that the Specialized
Book Ministry will be integrating into the main stream literature
programmes of CEF international work. We have been encouraged
with the way the CEF leaders have valued the work done through
the Specialized Book Ministry and it is their desire and
purpose to see this continue.
Mr
Reese Kauffman (CEF Inc. President) says. “The
books written by Sam Doherty are a gift from God and it
would be a sin not to make use of them fully”.
It
is clear from the letters and reports we receive, that our
publications have been used of God to encourage, inspire
and instruct many workers to reach boys and girls with the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. Integration is progressing and will
be completed ‘God willing’ by December 2012.
We believe that God has led us to this decision for the
following reasons.
1.
We have now completed publishing in English the full range
of books (37) written by Sam Doherty. Books are also available
in 67 languages.
2. CEF
Inc. has recently appointed a Director for International
Literature, Mr Bogdan Bassara from Poland. Bogdan knows
our work well.
3.
CEF Inc. is committed to providing literature to help the
many thousands of people who are trained in CEF Training
courses to be equipped to reach the children.
4.
New literature programmes are being developed that will
include many of our publications. The ‘Box of Books’
programme will be expanded. A new ‘Teachers’
Pack’ will be developed. Each of these programmes
will be for a 5 year cycle.
5.
The electronic age provides opportunities for wider distribution
and all of our books will be available to download as ‘eBooks’
on a new CEF Inc. web site.
We
ask for your prayers that God will guide as we work through
the process of integration so as to leave a legacy for future
generations of children’s workers. We believe that
as God works, this integration will result in a greater
use of the books and therefore more children reached with
the Gospel.
The implications of this integration will mean that we will
no longer send out books on request. As our stock becomes
depleted no new books will be printed. We
therefore suggest that if you want to make use of any of
our publications you should make your request no later than
30 June 2012. But only request a book if
you can be certain to make good use of it in a Biblical
ministry to children. You can request by mail or by using
this site.
In
the future some books will be available through national
CEF offices in many countries. If you do not know the address
of your national CEF office please let us know and we will
give you details.
We
trust that God will enable you to continue to benefit from
the wonderful legacy of these publications. The Assisting
Children’s Evangelists Worldwide Trust (the charity
which governs the book ministry) will continue to receive
gifts towards the support of literature projects which will
be used in the CEF International Literature programmes.
